SanDisk unveils 16 GB MicroSDHC and M2 Cards in India
Aimed at latest mobile phone models, SanDisk has announced the availability of its new 16GB microSDHC and Memory Stick Micro (M2) mobile memory cards, in the Indian market.
Claimed to be the world’s largest storage capacity for mobile phones, the fingernail-sized 16GB memory card ensures a multitude usage for other devices that consists of a video camera, GPS receiver or a MP3 player with a microSD slot.
Furthermore, the Memory Stick Micro (M2) that support 2 GB, 4 GB, 8 GB and 16 GB capacity levels are developed for Sony Ericsson’s new generation mobile phones.
According to Avi Greengart, Research Director for Mobile Devices at Current Analysis, “Handsets have become far more than just phones – they’ve become mobile jukeboxes, mobile offices, even mobile movie theaters. Flash memory cards have increased in storage capacity, but even an 8GB card may be too small for anyone with GPS map data, a few movies, a game or two, a presentation file and other applications. There is an acute need for more mobile storage capacity. 16GB gives consumers the ability to carry their digital content with them and still have room to do more with their mobile phones.”
The SanDisk 16GB micro SDHC card and the 16GB M2 card carry a price tag of Rs. 4499 and Rs. 4999, respectively. Both the products are slated to be available in Indian through Hot Spot Retail chain, Vijay sales & Croma in October.
