Seagate FreeAgent Go, Desk and XTreme External Hard Drives Available in India

Seagate FreeAgent drives Seagate has announced the launch of the latest FreeAgent external hard drives in India. The new drives include FreeAgent Go, FreeAgent Desk and FreeAgent XTreme.

Supporting Seagate Manager software, the new generation of Seagate FreeAgent external drives enable users to take back up, share and protect valuable digital contents. In addition to Windows Vista and XP, the FreeAgent drives support Mac computers with a FireWire 800/400 connection and Time Machine ready tools. For security, these hard drives are compatible with software-based AES-256bit encryption and Seagate DrivePass password protection.

“With the amount of content being created and consumed today, the average broadband household will soon need close to a terabyte of storage to account for their personal media collections on PCs, portable devices, and DVRs. With Seagate’s coupling of high-capacity, reliable and easy-to-use solutions with attractive designs, the company is helping more people enjoy the benefits that come with backup and sharing of their digital media collections,” said Jane Shields, research analyst, Parks Associates.

The slimmest FreeAgent Go is only 12.5mm in height and ensures the ability to withstand shock and vibration. Being the first in the external HDD industry to offer docking station option, the FreeAgent Go eliminates the burden of cables and locating USB ports. It comes with up to 500GB of capacity and shines in various color shades such as silver, black, red, and blue. It bundles a flexible and thin USB 2.0 travel cable. The FreeAgent Go desktop docking station can be purchased separately.

The other two 3.5-inch FreeAgent Desk drive and FreeAgent XTreme drive carry a storage capacity of up to 1.5 TB and have the flexibility to rest horizontally or vertically to maximize workspace.

The FreeAgent Desk drive comes is a brushed aluminum casing. The high-capacity solution supports USB 2.0 interface.

Housed in a black, brushed aluminum, the high-capacity FreeAgent XTreme drive is eSATA, USB 2.0 and FireWire 400 compliant. It offers a 3GB per second transfer rate with the eSATA connection.

The price list of all three Seagate FreeAgent external hard drives are as follows:

The Seagate FreeAgent Go drive is priced at Rs. 5500 for 250GB, Rs. 7000 for 320GB and Rs. 12000 for 500GB. Supporting Mac, the drive has a price tag of 250 GB is Rs, 9000 and 320 GB is Rs. 10000.

The FreeAgent Desk drive retails for Rs. 7500 (500GB), Rs. 8000 (640GB), Rs. 13000 (1TB) and Rs. 17000 (1.5TB). The FreeAgent Desk for Mac costs Rs. 9000 for 500GB, Rs. 14500 for 1TB and Rs. 19000/- for 1.5TB.

The FreeAgent XTreme is priced at Rs. 9500 for 500GB, Rs. 10000 for 640GB, Rs. 14500 for 1TB and Rs. 17000 for 1.5TB.
