WD intros 320GB My Passport Essential Portable USB Drives
Western Digital has unveiled its new and sleek My Passport Essential USB hard drives. Developed to complement WD’s popular My Book family of external drives, this latest range of hard drive comes in a beautiful glossy black finish and is just the size of a passport.
Stylishly small and newly-redesigned, the My Passport Essential Drives are bus powered, eliminating the use of external power adapter. The models feature sync and encryption software (Windows-compatible only) that provides users to store variety of songs, videos and photos easily.
“The newly designed My Passport Essential drives are the perfect travel-friendly storage device to hold the rich media content generated by higher resolution photos and HD videos and music. The desire to carry and keep their digital files close at hand continues to grow and this new drive offers a sleek and stylish solution with plenty of storage capacity for consumers on the move,” commented Jim Welsh, vice president and general manager of WD’s branded products group.
WD also integrates Google software on the pocket drive to find important files with the Google Desktop Search tool. Users can even manage photos with Picasa photo organizer software, while the Google Toolbar search bar helps to simplify Web searches.
The My Passport Essential USB drive comes equipped with WD Sync software, which enables consumers to take desktop content with them by simplifying the synchronization of essential personal files and Microsoft Outlook data on a PC.
Currently, the 320 GB WD My Passport Essential USB hard drives are out in stores for $199.99 (approx. Rs. 8000).
