LaCie has come up with its latest external hard drive, named the Big Disk Extreme+. The drive sports an amazing storage capacity of up to 2 terabytes (TB).
Big Disk Extreme+ features three interfaces, namely FireWire 800, FireWire 400 and USB 2.0. It is compatible with PC and Mac. Thus, the drive connects to a Mac or PC, using one of two FireWire 800 ports, one FireWire 400 port or one USB 2.0 port.
The massive capacity drive also comes equipped with LaCie’s new “Shortcut†button on its face. With this, it will automatically launch any application including the integrated EMC Retrospect backup software.
The highly spacious drive features 32MB of combined data cache. Inside the case, the mechanisms spin at 7200 RPM. LaCie also offers built-in RAID 0 for Extreme FireWire 800 speed.
LaCie’s latest Big Disk Extreme+ hard drive will be available in 1TB and 1.5TB configurations for $349.99 and $599 respectively. A 2TB model is expected to be out in stores in August for $849.
