Sony Walkman NX-X1000

Know more about the prices and the release dates of Sony Walkman NX-X1000 series media players for the Japanese market. Initially launched at CES this year, the two Walkman NX-X1000 series media players are the 16GB NW-X1050 and 32GB NW-X1060.

Said to be the first touchscreen Walkman players, both the devices have a 3-inch OLED touchscreen display, side-mounted buttons, hands-free support and a built-in Wi-Fi connectivity to surf the internet, download podcasts and view YouTube videos. These models also come with a digital noise canceling feature that takes full advantage of the software to eliminate ambient noise.

Additional features of the Walkman series of media players include an in-built FM and 1Seg TV tuners that enable users to access mobile radio and TV. Moreover, they can even record content in markets that are compatible with the broadcasts.

Users can conveniently play music using AAC, MP3 and WMA audio files as well as videos that are saved in MPEG-4, H.264 and WMV formats. Supporting cross-platform and drag-and-drop function, the Walkman NX-X1000 media devices can easily operate in Mac OS X and even sync in applications that support it.

Bundled with In-ear EX headphones, the NW-X1050 and NW-X1060 Walkman media players cost $403 (approx. Rs. 20,020) and $503 (approx. Rs. 24,985), respectively. Consumers can purchase both the devices from April 25, 2009 in either red or black shade.

Seems like the Sony Walkman series of media players are giving tough competition to the high-featured and popular Apple iPod products, particularly the iPod touch!
