Creative Zen Stone Unveiled
Creative has unveiled a new tiny, flash-based audio player called the Zen Stone. The audio player comes in six colors, black, white, red, blue, pink and green. The best part about the Creative Zen is the basic USB-drive drag-and-drop interface.
The Creative Zen gives ten hours of playback from a fully charged internal battery. It has its own share of accessories like a keychain and an armband. Two AAA batteries will power the Creative Zen flash-based audio player. The Stone supports MP3, WMA and WAV files as well as the Audible formats 2 and 3. Although the player supports for-purchase WMA DRM files, it does not support portable subscription WMAs.
A spokesperson from Creative explains, “Subscription support would have required much more processing power, which would have increased the cost and price of the player. We felt that the vast majority of folks would have 1GB of non-protected content.”
The Creative Zen Stone is priced at a modest $39.99 (approx. Rs. 1650). Creative is planning to launch tiny docking speaker systems for the Zen Stone in July 2007.
