Third Rail System protective case with optional slide-out battery for iPhone 4
Users who own the coveted Apple smartphone surely won’t mind forking out extra money for a protective case that not only shields their device but also augments the style factor. Satiating diverse market needs, Third Rail Mobility has introduced its Third Rail System that efficiently functions as a protective case as well as an external battery solution.
This new device claims to be an ideal substitute for massive power cases, external chargers and conventional cases. It renders distinct usage modes in one single easy-to-use system. The Third Rail System comprises the slim power-ready protective case which is known as the Slim Case and a universal, interchangeable, removable battery dubbed Smart Battery. The device boasts of its capability to work as a protective case, power case, portable external charger and power hub for concurrently charging many devices.

The Slim Case lends support to all iPhone 4 models. The Smart Battery clings onto the Slim Case for an effortless charging process and can be conveniently detached as per users’ requirements. The company’s proprietary technology offers power to the Slim Case from the Smart Battery without the undesired clutter of cords.
The Smart Battery is touted to be a 1.4 ounce rechargeable 1250mAh Lithium-ion battery that can be flawlessly affixed to the Third Rail Slim Case. Additionally, it can be used as a stand-alone, universal charger via the integrated microUSB port. Besides, multiple Smart Batteries can be stacked together for a power hub, thereby helping users charge all Smart Batteries and any plugged in device using a single AC or PC adapter. The Smart Battery sports an integrated LED battery level indicator to highlight the battery life.
The Third Rail System is now available for the iPhone 4 and is expected to be rolled out soon for other smartphones later this year. It can be picked up for $89.99 (approx Rs. 4,049) through the official website, selected retailers and online stores. The iPhone 4 Slim Case and an additional Smart Battery can be purchased separately for $39.99 (approx Rs. 1,799) and $59.99 (approx Rs. 2,699), respectively.
