Intel Atom processor-based netbooks now available

Intel Atom Processor Logo We just reported on Acer introducing Aspire AOD260 and AO533 netbooks featuring Intel Atom processors. Now, Intel has announced that an array of netbooks is immediately available based on its new mobile dual-core Atom processors.

Netbooks from popular manufacturers including Acer, Asus, Fujitsu, Lenovo, LG, Samsung, MSI, and Toshiba are now incorporated with these latest Atom processors. The offerings enable improved support for Adobe Flash technology, multiple applications such as games, and more. Multimedia sites like YouTube and Hulu as well as multiple web pages encompassing hotel booking systems can be easily accessed with the help of these processors.

“In their short history, the netbook category has experienced impressive growth. Having shipped about 70 million Intel Atom chips for netbooks since our launch of the category in 2008, there is obviously a great market for these devices around the world,” shared Erik Reid, director of marketing for mobile platforms at Intel.

Internet access while on the move can be seamlessly enjoyed with the dual-core Intel Atom processor N550. A better responsive experience is delivered by the N550 featuring DDR3 memory support and good battery life than compared to the single-core N450. Apart from this, the N550 supports Hyper-Threading technology, enhanced SpeedStep technology and thermal monitoring technologies.

An extensive range of netbooks based on dual-core Intel Atom chips is now available through several stores.
