Murata displays ultra-thin waterproof piezoelectric speaker

There is a growing need of output devices which are often used as beepers in electronic equipments. Murata has moved in with a new waterproof piezoelectric speaker. The 0.9mm thick device claims to be the first ultra-thin waterproof piezoelectric speaker.
The new IPX7 grade waterproof piezoelectric speaker is not equipped with any conventional waterproof sheets. Its design has enabled the company to avoid the costs associated with applying waterproof sheets, while maintaining the devices’ intended sound quality.
The device ensures elimination of waterproof sheet material costs, the elimination of waterproof sheet application costs, and the elimination of the possibility of sound degradation resulting from waterproof sheets. Additionally, it also avoids the possibility of malfunctions caused by iron sand, or electromagnetic effects on magnetic sensors.
The piezoelectric speaker can be used in mobile phones, digital still cameras, digital video cameras, IC recorders, mobile music players, e-books, and other mobile equipments.
The Murata waterproof piezoelectric speaker’s sample price is 250 yen (approx Rs. 126.87).
