MainConcept develops two new technologies for Nvidia CUDA graphics solutions
Creative heads and software developers seem to be blessed with latest hardware products and software content designed to ease their tasks. MainConcept has now announced the release of new H.264/AVC encoding technologies which can be used by professionals to encode videos. Users need to offload video encoding jobs from the CPU to Nvidia graphics processing units to benefit from the H.264/AVC encoder’s speeds of up to 10x faster performance for HD video.
When compared to CPU-only encoding, the encoder will enable devices to perform 10 times quicker and lessen CPU utilization to as low as 20 percent. Built on Nvidia CUDA architecture, the two new MainConcept H.264/AVC encoding technologies touts to immensely help creative professionals. The CUDA-based H.264/AVC plug-in is created for MainConcept’s Reference 2.1 stand-alone application for Windows and Macintosh. With pre-sets for playback devices including iPod, iPhone, iPad, PSP, Blu-ray disc, and others, this technology proffers a swifter transcoding solution to production houses.
“Video professionals and developers alike understand that time is money and thus being able to encode video faster into H.264/AVC, the premier format for the next decade, is paramount,” explained Muzaffer Beygirci, managing director, MainConcept. “We have spent considerable effort optimizing our H.264/AVC technology offerings to take full advantage of the Nvidia CUDA architecture and GPU acceleration, and continue to offer video professionals and developers this dramatically accelerated video encoding with MainConcept quality and compatibility baked right in.”
The MainConcept CUDA H.264/AVC encoder augments performance by utilizing Nvidia GPU acceleration for encoding or transcoding. The new Codec Suite 5 plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 renders H.264/AVC encoding from the timeline combined with full CUDA hardware acceleration. This encoder enables users to transcode from MPEG-2, VC-1 and AVC elementary streams or raw frames into H.264/AVC baseline and main profiles. Including compatibility with Nvidia Quadro, Tesla and GeForce, these solutions have the capability to seamlessly work with several Nvidia graphics solutions supporting the CUDA architecture.
The MainConcept H.264/AVC encoder SDK and the Codec Suite 5 H.264/AVC encoder plug-in for Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 are now available through the MainConcept online store. These solutions are compatible with any Nvidia graphics solution supporting the CUDA compute capability 1.0 or higher.
