Harman teams up with MapmyIndia for navigation and infotainment solutions
Harman Kardon HD 990 CD player and HK 990 integrated amplifier captured audiophiles with vibrant audio quality. The company collaborates with MapmyIndia to unleash incorporated navigation and infotainment systems with comprehensive Indian road maps.
The maps used in Harman infotainment systems have been supplied by MapmyIndia. The navigation map will put forth highly detailed street-level maps for around 900 Indian cities. Moreover, it will offer national connectivity for about 5,74,000 towns and villages linked by one million kilometers of highways and road network.
“We are delighted to offer, for the first time, a navigation and infotainment system incorporating India map content for our customers in the region,” commented Sachin Lawande, Harman Chief Technology Officer and Co-President Automotive. “This further strengthens our global technology leadership in premium infotainment, and positions Harman to aggressively serve the fast-growing Indian automotive market.”
Apart from all this, the maps will highlight about three million points of interest over 50 categories of attractions like hotels, restraints, ATMs and petrol pumps. These maps will be updated every six months. The company also shares that plans to integrate the Indian map solution in present vehicles fitted with Harman infotainment systems are also anticipated.
Luxury German automaker BMW claims to be the first to offer this complete Indian navigation content by the end of this year.
