Epson enhances Proofing Media portfolio with new MetallicProof Film

Epson Logo Epson was last spotted making news with Artisan 835 and Artisan 725 printers which promise to offer users advanced printing solutions. Now, the company has enhanced its line of proofing media for the packaging and prototyping market with the latest MetallicProof Film paper. The device is mainly developed to be used with the Epson Stylus Pro WT7900 which uses Epson UltraChrome HDR White Ink.

The new MetallicProof Film, along with Epson’s innovative ClearProof Film and CrystalClear Film, offers packaging designers and pre-press houses a wide array of economical printing solutions to develop contract proofs, mock-ups and prototypes. This innovative proofing media helps designers and packaging companies amplify their prototyping abilities with new substrates and printing effects.

Epson UltraChrome HDR White Ink offers a thick base layer on MetallicProof Film which triggers high color saturation and resolution. This film can be grouped with the Epson Stylus Pro WT7900’s seven ink colors to create scintillating effects like pastels or metallic shades like gold and bronze.

“Epson is dedicated to providing a variety of high-quality substrates that directly benefit the unique and increasingly complex needs of the packaging and prototyping market. MetallicProof Film is the first of its kind in the industry and truly expands the printing capabilities of packaging designers. In addition, Epson’s entire line of packaging papers enhance the workflow of proofing and prototyping professionals for both flexographic and gravure printing, providing near instant dry times, rich blacks, and vibrant colors,” commented Jeff Smith, product marketing manager, professional imaging, Epson America.

Designed for easy application to packaging surfaces, the new MetallicProof Film features a coating that has the ability to absorb ink for a greater color gamut. It quickly dries thus offering enhanced productivity. The Clear film technology subsumes ultra-clear layering technology which offers greater ink capacity for wider color gamut and faster drying for better productivity.

Optically clear polyester film provides advanced image quality, performance and accuracy for several proofing apps like color progressives, spot overlays, and other packaging requirements. It also offers quick drying while the smooth surface delivers accuracy and short-term stability.

Users can now purchase the recently unveiled MetallicProof Film, ClearProof Film and CrystalClear Film through authorized Epson Professional Imaging resellers.
