DIY Pixel Qi kits to be out in first half of 2010

While gadgets have become a part of everyday life, there are very few people who may be willing to tinker with these gizmos when they are in need of repair. The DIY Pixel Qi kits are expected to be made available within the second quarter of the current year, according to the company’s official blogspot.
Most people would seriously doubt that changing a laptop screen is just slightly more difficult than changing a light bulb if that statement wasn’t lent credibility by May Lou Jepsen. The task is said to involve unscrewing six screws, pulling off a bezel, unconnecting the old display and plugging in a new one.
Sounds easy enough and the DIY Pixel Qi kits are expected to make it an even simpler task. Jepsen spoke about her experience in Nigeria where some schoolgirls started a ‘laptop hospital’ for reseating cables, changing screens or speakers. The lesson that emerged from the experience seems to be that ownership is the best way to assure maintenance of such devices.
No word on the pricing of the DIY Qi Pixel kit has surfaced as yet.
