Microsoft unleashes SideWinder X4 keyboard with anti-ghosting technology

Hardcore PC gamers will tell anyone who’s listening how essential precise keyboard control is when it comes to unleashing their full gaming prowess. Microsoft has slid the covers off a new keyboard dubbed the SideWinder X4 that is attributed with anti-ghosting technology and is touted to lend players more control over their gaming experience.
The keyboard is cited to incorporate advanced anti-ghosting technology that permits gamers to press a maximum of 26 keys simultaneously. It allows players to implement key combinations by scanning each key independently and detecting every key press accurately even when several keys are pressed at the same time. The device extends gaming features like mode and profile switching, macro recording as also adjustable backlighting.
“We’re always looking for new and novel ways to enhance people’s interactions with their PCs. We know that ghosting can be a problem for gamers, so we wanted to develop a way to eliminate this issue and improve the overall gaming experience, and we’ve succeeded with the new anti-ghosting technology in the SideWinder X4 Keyboard,” affirmed Steven Bathiche, research manager of the Applied Sciences Group, Microsoft.
Macro recording lets users put together multiple moves into one press of a button, while automatic macro repetition allows owners to repeat the macro time and again with one key. Mode and profile switching lends support to easy ways of customizing the keyboard for different game titles. Lastly, gamers can also tweak the lighting levels to suit their needs with the adjustable backlighting feature.
Microsoft’s SideWinder X4 keyboard will hit shelves this March at $59.95. It will be available for pre-order on Amazon by the end of this week and comes backed by a three year worldwide warranty.
