The Computex 2010 is all geared up to flaunt some exciting entertainment technology this time around. From WirelessHD to 3D, the event is likely to put on a good show for most who call themselves entertainment or gadget buffs. 3D by Marvell which will be unveiled at the Computex this year lends support to Blu-ray playback with the embedded Armada 1000 HD media processor SoC, 88DE3010.

Entertainment content seemed to be riding the HD wave until Blu-ray came along. The current trend appears to be moving towards Blu-ray content and manufacturers aren’t holding back in this field. The Marvell Armada1000 HD media processor, 88DE3010, is engineered to offer digital entertainment experiences that provide manufacturers with tools that accommodate 3D content. The emphasis is on bringing 3D content to consumers’ homes through gizmos such as Blu-ray players, HD STBs, 3D digital TVs and digital media adapters.

“Demand for 3D gaming, movies, and other home entertainment uses is growing. Consumers want to enjoy theatrical 3D experiences in the home,” explained Gaurav Shah, Interim General Manager of the Digital Entertainment Business Unit, Communications and Consumer Business Group, Marvell Semiconductor. “Marvell’s innovative technologies are pivotal components in fulfilling these growing consumer demands for 3D content. Marvell’s high performance, low-power and scalable Armada 1000 HD media processor is designed to make it easier and more affordable for manufacturers to deliver Blu-ray 3D experiences to consumers’ living rooms.”

A recent Informa Telecoms and Media report claims that around 22.5 million viewers are anticipated to tune their TVs sets to new 3D media by 2015. It looks like OEMs, content providers, broadcasters and satellite operators among others need to prepare for a 3D upheaval in the near future. 3D by Marvell and the Armada 1000 HD media processor are scheduled to be demonstrated at the Computex 2010.
