Vioguard gets inventive, launches UVKB50 Self-Sanitizing Keyboard in US

Vioguard UVKB50 Keyboard

Ever thought what it would be like if a computer keyboard starts protecting users from a throng of infectious diseases instead of doctors? Making this thought possible, Vioguard has recently unveiled a self-sanitizing computer keyboard delivering germicidal ultraviolet light for US users. Claimed to be the world’s first self-sanitizing keyboard, the UVKB50 keyboard embodies the power and properties of germicidal UV light.

Scientific publications have revealed that germicidal ultraviolet light emerges to be highly effective against the H1N1 flu virus, MRSA, molds and variety of other hazardous microorganisms.

“The spread of MRSA and other infections, not to mention H1N1 flu, is a complex problem that is being tackled each day. We believe germicidal UV technology offers an effective tool in this fight,” explained Vioguard’s Chief Technical Officer Craig Ranta, a former Microsoft hardware engineering director.

Vioguard’s safeguarding device comes equipped with a standard keyboard and touchpad and doesn’t require any software or special hardware to function. The Vioguard system automatically retracts the keyboard and touchpad into its clean, light tight enclosure where it is flooded with germicidal ultraviolet light. The entire layout helps in disinfecting the keyboard and touchpad surface after every single use.

Believed to be the foremost self-sanitizing keyboard introduced by Bothell, Washington-based Vioguard, the UVKB50 ends the necessity to manually wipe down the keyboard to disinfect it. The intelligent device features a high quality keyset alongside an advanced multi-touch trackpad.

“Our system was designed to be durable, efficient and user-friendly where computer keyboards are shared in consumer environments,” stated John Sharps, Vioguard’s Vice President of Development and Manufacturing who previously oversaw development and manufacturing of Microsoft hardware products. “Our goal is to present a disinfected keyboard to each user and help reduce the spread of MRSA, H1N1 flu and other harmful bacteria in shared computer environments.”

The easy-to-use UVKB50 can be easily installed without requiring any additional software. Further, the effectual product has self-monitoring that smartly ascertains consistent UV exposure every time and extensive lifecycle testing for sturdiness.

Hopefully, the Self-Sanitizing UVKB50 ensures burgeoned safety for users and helps shun those harmful microorganisms. Users can grab the keyboard for $899 (approx Rs. 42,217). It is expected to knock Canada in November.
