AMD offers the latest addition to its ATI Radeon HD 4000 graphic card series called the ATI Radeon HD 4770. The company claims to have produced the world’s first desktop graphics card using 40nm process technology. The card utilizes only required energy and gives users advanced performance at low prices.

The graphics processor incorporates third-generation hardware which is able to support DirectX 10.1 games such as Clear Sky, Stormrise and Battleforge. This offers users an improved gaming performance in better visual quality. Superior data rates for fast game performance are also achieved with the newest GDDR5 memory technology integrated into the card. With ATI CrossFireX technology, another Radeon HD 4770 card can be added to increase the performance levels.

Rick Bergman, senior vice president and general manager, Graphics Products Group, AMD commented, “Consumer pressure in this economic downturn is shifting demand to lower prices and the price band around $100 has the highest demand and highest volume. AMD has responded with the launch of the ATI Radeon HD 4770, targeting this market with cutting-edge technologies like 40 nm processors, support for DirectX 10.1 gaming and GDDR5 memory. This strategy stands in stark contrast to the old ‘trickle down’ technology approach some still use to address this important segment.”

Users can view HD digital content and brilliant visuals with this graphics processor. Lower resolution media can also be viewed in higher definition. The second generation AMD Unified Video Decoder 2.0 technology lets customers view HD content like Blu-ray discs with crystal clarity. Also smooth playback is offered by this graphics card.

The ATI Radeon is able to support picture-in-picture, HDMI and HD audio technologies such as 7.1 surround sound. This helps attain a home entertainment system of high proportions. On combining the AMD Athlon X2 7850 processors, AMD 7-Series chipsets and ATI Radeon HD 4770 series graphics cards, the PC can achieve HD video and processing acceleration.

The AMD ATI Radeon HD 4770 graphics card is expected to cost $99 (approx. Rs.4,998).
