VIA presents latest VIA IVP-7500 in-vehicle platform for transport devices

VIA IVP-7500 boardVIA introduces a groundbreaking technology called the VIA IVP-7500 board. The revolutionary platform is the first in a series of x86 platforms utilized in transport devices and car PCs.

In today’s technology-driven world, a host of inventions have hit modern transport. The demand to increase entertainment whilst driving, vehicle owners have expressed the need of in-built audio and video technology.

For car PCs and transport devices, the VIA IVP-7500 enhances the multimedia features in the in-vehicle computing. It also has a HD audio with optional SPK and Mic-in connectors. In the communications technology department, FM stereo, Bluetooth and GPS module with IPEX antenna are included. This in-vehicle platform can support various other technologies like TV and VGA outputs and LCD panel interface. The platform also has an infrared adapter for hands-free applications.

Daniel Wu, Vice President of VIA Embedded, VIA Technologies said, “Intelligent transportation devices are making the transition from an enthusiast to mainstream audience.”

“The VIA IVP-7500 carries our expertise in developing stable, compact, energy-efficient systems to this high-growth sector, bringing with it faster product development cycles and the flexibility to offer consumers more than just a car PC,” added Daniel.

The VIA IVP-7500 board is a fanless device powered by 1.0GHz VIA Eden processor and measures 114mm x 185.5mm. Different dashboard implementations like one or two DIN, headrest and in-seat designs can be employed with this platform.

It has storage of up to 1GB of DDR2 and includes IDE 1.8” hard drive which supports FFC cable and SD card support. The VIA IVP-7500 also incorporates a COM port and two USB 2.0 ports. Camera ports including A/V and V-CAM is utilized for monitoring applications.

Price and availability of the VIA IVP-7500 In-Vehicle Platform is not known. VIA is however offering samples of their latest platform to project customers.
