Stronium DDR-3 memory modules introduced in India

Stronium DDR-3 Memory Modules

Strontium Technology launched edge DDR-3 modules for notebooks and desktops in India.

These modules with the speed of 1333MHz and 1066MHz as 240 pin UDIMMs and 204 pin SODIMMs are available in 1GB and 2GB capacities respectively.

“Currently DDR-3 is servicing the high end leading edge segment of the market but it is steadily becoming main stream and we should see wider adoption over the next couple of quarters.” said Vivian Singh, CEO, Strontium Technology, Singapore.

With 1.5v supply voltage, DDR3 memory module consumes 30 percent less power and ensures greater battery durability as compared to DDR2 modules. In addition to this, the included Sub 70 Nm technology in DDR3 chips works efficiently with the1.5v supply voltage. DDR-3 employs 8 bit deep pre-fetch buffer for higher bandwidth up to 1600 MHz.

“This new line of Strontium DDR3 memory has undergone extensive compatibility testing to ensure that customers can enjoy a hassle-free experience,” said Vivian Singh.

DDR-3 module features include dual-gate transistors to reduce leakage of current, high precision calibration resistors and fly-by command/ address/control bus with on-DIMM termination. However, DDR-3 memory modules are not compatible with earlier products. For instance, if DDR3 module is inserted into DDR2 socket, it can hamper the DIMM and/or the motherboard.

These memory modules offer improved latencies as measured in nanoseconds and come with self refresh and auto refresh features.

Strontium DDR-3 modules in 1 GB and 2 GB densities are available with life time warranty. However, the pricing details are yet to be announced.
