Sony outs BDP-N460 networked Blu-ray Disc player

Blu-Ray technology has now become a prevailing trend that is soon catching up as various devices today are Blu-ray enabled. To join the change, Sony has introduced the BDP-N460 networked Blu-ray Disc player that offers best of full HD 1080p and streaming Internet video.

Apart from playing Blu-ray discs and DVDs, this device will stream one of the largest collections of premium and free on-demand media through the Bravia Internet Video platform which comprises of numerous movies, TV programs and music from YouTube and Slacker.

“Whether its Full HD 1080p or streaming video and audio from the Internet, entertainment comes in so many flavors that consumers want choice,” said Chris Fawcett, vice president of Sony Electronics’ home audio and video business. “Leading the entertainment experience, Sony brings the best of both worlds together in one player that offers more content than other stand-alone devices on the market.”

This player will offer full HD 1080/60p and 24p True Cinema output, it also decodes the latest sophisticated audio codecs and is BD-LIVE capable with the broadband internet connection and purchase of external memory.

This device features built-in software that has been specially conceived for use with the Linksys by Cisco Wireless-N Ethernet Bridge with Dual-Band. This bridge will ease the connection between the Ethernet–enabled player and the wireless router in either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz radio band which is used for optimal streaming.

The player comes with an option for cross search function that makes it easy to find internet content on the Bravia Internet Video platform. The BDP-N460 has been designed keeping in mind the users who own extensive DVD movie libraries and hence this device incorporates Sony’s Precision Cinema HD Upscale technology that converts standard-definition signals to near HD quality.

This player also features Sony’s Precision Drive technology that helps to correct wobbling discs from three directions. Decoding is what this player is good at, since it can decode the latest advanced audio codecs including 7.1 channel Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus, DTS-HD High Resolution Audio, DTS-HD Master Audio. It can also output 7.1 channel L-PCM via HDMI after decoding.

The BDP-N460 networked Blu-ray Disc player supports Deep Color video output and x.v.Color technology and is compatible with an array of video formats. This model also features an external port for local storage.

This gadget will be on shelves from October and can be availed from Sony Style stores.
