Myka Ion streams Hulu, Boxee in high definition format

Myka has introduced a new Web-to-TV product called the Ion. The Ion claims to easily run Boxee, Hulu and other leading Internet video services in high definition format on a TV set.
Myka Ion is powered by Intel’s Atom processor 330 and Nvidia Ion graphics processor. These processors enable the Myka Ion to provide high performance at a lower cost. The Ion also let’s users browse any website as well as play video content directly onto the TV. The device entirely eliminates the need for PCs, conversion software and tinkering. The Plug-n-play set up of the Ion further enhances its appeal.
“Technology has finally caught up with what consumers want out of Internet video services,” said Myka President Dan Lovy. “They want to be freed from their computers and watch the growing variety of Web video content on their large-screen, high-definition living room TVs. And they want to do it without a lot of hassle and without video quality suffering.”
“We’ve heard them loud and clear and we’re proud to present the Myka Ion, the first product to take advantage of the latest processor technology and finally give Web video consumers what they want.”
The Intel and Nvidia processors provide support for video encoding/decoding during playback. This ensures seamless, high-quality content beamed directly to the TV. The Myka Ion is actually a mini-PC in itself. With support for a wide range of file formats, users don’t need to worry about file format compatibility.
The Myka Ion Web-to-TV product is now up for pre-order on the company’s official website. The device is priced at $379 (approx. Rs. 17,741).
