Edimax PS-1216U Combo Print Server Launched in India

Edimax PS-1216U Combo Print Server Expanding the comprehensive print server product line, Edimax has announced the release of its latest combo print server, called the PS-1216U, in the Indian market.

Boasting to offer support for Graphical Device Interface (GDI) or so called host-based printers, the PS-1216U allows consumers to share their GDI printer by just hooking the preferred printer to the available USB port. With a special technology, the peripheral from Edimax works with GDI printer to easily connect to a computer. It can even be shared with multiple users. Further, the GDI printer converts pages into an image format.

Moreover, the print server also comes embedded with a LAN port, 512KB NOR Flash, 2MB SDRAM, a DHCP Server and client protocols along with 7.5VDC, 0.5A power adapter.

The easy-to-install and configure PS-1216U has the ability to share two USB printers as well as one parallel printer to all network users, offering complete printing methods like LPR, IPP and Raw. Besides, it is compatible with peer-to-peer and server-based printing.

Supporting major operating systems (Windows 2000, XP and Vista), it offers fault-tolerant function to continue firmware upgrade; even though the initial upgrade process faced some problems.

Price is under secrecy; however the Edimax PS-1216U combo print server is currently available for purchase through the various distributors and selected retail outlets.
