Asus ROG Maximus III Extreme Motherboard debuts

Asus Logo The ROG motherboard series of Asus now witnesses a new addition in the form of the Maximus III Extreme. The P55-based motherboard allows users to tweak system settings wirelessly over Bluetooth by means of a handset.

This Asus peripheral packages a plethora of features custom-made to overclocking enthusiasts and gamers. By means of an exclusive overclocking interface dubbed ROG Connect, users can now monitor and tune their main systems through a notebook or netbook via USB. The version launched with Maximus III Extreme will expand ROG Connect’s functionality, boosting BIOS updating and recovery, diagram viewing, and on-the-fly hardware-level voltage and frequency adjustment.

With RC Bluetooth, users can carry out standard Bluetooth functions such as stereo music playback, Skype messaging, Internet access via Bluetooth phone, and mobile phone or PDA synchronization. The ATX motherboard measures 12” x 9.6” and supports Intel Turbo Boost Technology.

The Asus motherboard features Realtek RTL8112L Gigabit LAN controller, 6 x SATA 3.0Gb/s ports, 5 x PCIe x16 slots, 11 USB 2.0 ports, 4 x DIMM, max. 16GB, DDR3 2200(O.C.)/2133(O.C.)/2000(O.C.)/1800(O.C.)/1600/1333/1066 MHz, non-ECC, un-buffered memory modules. The ROG device supports Nvidia SLI Technology / ATI CrossFireX Technology, Blu-ray audio layer content protection, 1 Optical S/PDIF out port at back I/O, Jack-detection, Multi-streaming, Front Panel Jack-retasking and more.
