ASUS intros Eee Stick Wireless Controller for PC Gaming

Asus Eee Stick

Asus has announced the development of its latest gaming peripheral for PC, named Eee Stick that resembles Nintendo Wii remote control. Moving in similar lines, Asus’ latest wireless controller has the ability to translate users’ hand motions into corresponding movements onscreen.

Claiming to be an easy-to-use yet highly versatile plug-and-play controller, the Asus Eee Stick abides the product tagline “Get into the swing of gaming”. Supporting only Eee models, the wireless controller is said to come bundled exclusively with certain models of the Eee PC and the Eee Box. Furthermore, a collection of games developed or adapted specifically for use with it will also be available.

Offering superior gaming and other multimedia entertainment applications, the highly portable Eee Stick embraces an Activation stick, a Navigation stick and a 2.4GHz RF dongle that supports a long broadcast range of 10 m. The USB 2.0 interface dongle is not restricted to any specific placement or orientations while plays, it delivers responsive game play even if the sticks are not pointing directly at the dongle. Both the sticks are vibration-capable and still maintain low power-consumption, providing up to a lengthy three days of continuous play on two AA batteries per stick.

The user-friendly Eee Stick gives an intuitive gameplay with three operation modes such as 3D motions, pointing and title due to in-built motion sensors. Asus has installed the 3D Motion mode that has the capability to respond and reproduce movement along all axes as well as wrist rotations. In the Pointing mode, gamers will get to focus on aiming while playing first person shooters and light gun games. The Tilt mode is included to imitate movement forward, backward and to the sides.

To get going with the gameplay, plug the RF dongle into one of the Eee PC’s USB ports; and hold the power buttons on both the Activation and Navigation sticks for five seconds.

It is said that the Eee Stick can work effortlessly with other PC gaming peripherals that includes gamepads and keypads to allow mix and match devices for different and unique play style.

While the Activation stick sports seven fully-programmed game keys, one mode switch, two LEDs, eight-way 3D motions, the Navigation stick comes embedded with four fully-programmed game keys, one joystick, two LEDs, eight-way 3D motions.

Asus has not yet revealed the price and availability details of the Eee Stick wireless controller.
