The Nokia Asha 310 release date for India and regions like Middle East, Brazil, Africa and other parts of Asia has been confirmed for this quarter, while $102 (approx. Rs. 5,510) has been announced as its suggested retail price. It is said to be the first phone from the Finnish company to offer a combination of Wi-Fi and dual SIM compatibility.
Like all other dual SIM handsets from the manufacturer, this device takes advantage of the Easy Swap technology for allowing users to insert a second SIM card without switching it off. Also, it remembers unique profiles of as many as 5 SIM cards. Slated to come drenched in shades of black, white and golden, the phone’s front side is graced by a 3-inch scratch-resistant capacitive LCD transmissive multi-touch display of 400 x 240p resolution.
It ensures on-the-go entertainment with 40 free EA games and access to the conglomerate’s store for downloading apps. FM radio and a music player compliant with most of the common file formats have also been added to the mix. The phone ships with 64MB of RAM and 128MB mass storage expandable up to 32GB with the assistance of a microSD card.
Moreover, the Wi-Fi-enabled mobile gadget is pre-loaded with the proprietary Xpress Browser that boasts of cutting back on data consumption by up to 90 percent. Measuring 10.9.9 x 54 x 13 millimeters, the device tips the scales at 104 grams and is equipped with a 2MP rear-facing fixed focus camera with 4x digital zoom. It tags along features such as multiple camera settings, a still image editor and the ability to record videos at the rate of 10 frames per second amongst others.
The phone is based on the Series 40 Touch platform and can run on 2G mobile networks like GPRS, EDGE, EGPRS and GSM. While there’s GPS for navigation purposes, Bluetooth has been provided for wireless data transfer. As for the power life, its 1110mAh battery coughs up the juice for 2G talk time of close to 17 hours and music playback time of as much as 54 hours on a single charge.
As we already mentioned, the Nokia Asha 310 will be up for sale in Q1 2013.
