Although recent rumors had the tech world looking forward to a certain Galaxy S III, its parent company seemed to be in a mood to introduce the Samsung Galaxy S Advance into its extended family. The phone is expected to hit markets in Russia by February and then move across to other parts of the world.

The Galaxy S Advance will originally operate on the Gingerbread platform paired with the Samsung TouchWiz users interface. Apart from Google services like Android Market, Gmail, and others, the device will also offer access to Samsung applications like Hubs, ChatON and Kies 2.0 among others.

“The Galaxy S Advance adds to the successful track record of the Galaxy smartphone range with a phone that combines power and style with all the versatility of Samsung’s Hub services,” commented JK Shin, President of IT and Mobile Communications Division at Samsung Electronics.

The rear facing 5MP camera comes in handy while capturing spontaneous, fun moments. The snapper is further adorned with attributes like autofocus and LED flash. This is supported by a 1.3MP secondary camera which facilitates video calling.

The device readily offers user memory of 8GB or 16GB which can be expanded via an external microSD card of up to 32GB capacity. The handset is also incorporated with a 768MB RAM and 1500mAh standard lithium ion battery. Measuring 123.2mm x 63.0mm x 9.69mm, the device tips the scales at 120g.

Concrete details about the Samsung Galaxy S Advance release date and price in various parts of the world have not been disclosed as yet. However, after landing in Russia by February, it will gradually be made available in regions like Europe, Middle East, Latin America, Asia, China, and more.
