Sony Xperia P, Xperia U of NXT series unveiled at MWC

After the Xperia S, the newly formed Sony Mobile Communications is out with its latest offerings namely, Sony Xperia P and Xperia U belonging to the NXT series. While the latter is aimed at users looking for a mobile companion for entertainment purposes, the former with the WhiteMagic display technology for high screen brightness is meant for people constantly on the move.
Encased in an aluminum exterior, the Xperia P dons a 4-inch multi-touch Reality display featuring Mobile Bravia engine and WhiteMagic technology for power efficient brightness. The phone is fueled by a 1GHz dual core processor and comes with 16GB flash storage. The Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Gingerbread based Xperia P will be released in the second quarter of this year.

This handset drenched in shades of silver, black and red, is equipped with an 8MP camera possessing Sony technology for capturing 2D as well as 3D panoramic shots. Its connectivity options are inclusive of HDMI, DLNA and NFC amongst others. Moreover, it is also compatible with SmartDock that lets users connect a wireless keyboard and mouse to the smartphone for web browsing, mailing and other functions.
The stylish and compact Sony Xperia U deployed with the xLoud and Sony 3D surround sound audio technology, claims to render an improved acoustic experience. Its DLNA certification allows users to wirelessly stream music to most compliant speakers. The black or white colored phone is accompanied with exchangeable caps in shades of pink and yellow. Similar to its aforementioned counterpart, this Gingerbread device will receive the Android 4.0 upgrade too.

Operating with the help of a 1GHz dual core processor, it is outfitted with a 3.5-inch Reality display with Mobile Bravia engine. The handset’s 5MP camera comes with attributes similar to that of the other new Xperia. Additionally, it lets users personalize the phone with different themes and is packaged along with the Smart Headset embedded with SmartKey to instantly launch favorite applications.
The Sony Xperia P and Xperia U release dates and prices have not been disclosed. They are expected to hit stores globally in Q2 2012.
