4G LTE Motorola Droid 4 smartphone hits Verizon Wireless

We can only say it’s better late than never, as the Motorola Droid 4 from Verizon Wireless which was rumored to hit store shelves in December, will soon be made available from the carrier. This thin 4G LTE smartphone sporting a QWERTY keypad, was unveiled at the CES.

The latest Droid device from Motorola boasts of cramming a dual core 1.2GHz processor and 1GB RAM in its slim half-inch chassis. The Gingerbread phone that is upgradable to Android 4.0, dons a 4-inch qHD display that withstands scratches. The back panel is dotted with an 8MP camera which is capable of recording 1080p videos and comes with the Mirror mode, enabling users to view its stored content on big screen HDTVs.

The 16GB onboard memory can be expanded with a microSD card of up to 32GB capacity. Accommodating a QWERTY keypad featuring a PC-like layout and edge-lit keys, it is compatible with a number of accessories including the 10.1-inch Lapdock 100, 14-inch Lapdock 500 Pro, vehicle navigation mount, HD dock and more. The sturdy mobile phone with water repellent nanocoating, acts as a 4G LTE mobile hotspot to support up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices.

And what’s more, the Droid 4 is preloaded with the MotoCast and Smart Actions apps along with Citrix Receiver for Android webtop applications. The business-ready smartphone is also inclusive of government-grade encryption to secure saved data. Moreover, the phone is capable of clocking in download speeds within the range of 5Mbps to 12Mbps, while the upload speed is anywhere between 2Mbps and 5Mbps.

The Motorola Droid 4 price details have not been mentioned. It is expected to be available in the coming weeks via Verizon Wireless.
