If the Prada phone by LG 1.0 and 2.0 left everyone in tech terrain impressed, there is something to look forward to next year also as the two companies have decided to launch the Prada phone by LG 3.0 next year. The high end fashion brand and electronics manufacturing company revived their exclusive mobile phone partnership at a signing ceremony that was held today in Seoul, Korea.

The upcoming handset is a result of the collaboration between LG and Prada which can be traced back to five years ago in 2006. In the following years, 2007 and 2008, two premium mobile phones were released by the companies and these apparently became runaway hits among people with a penchant for sophisticated devices and high-end technology.

“The partnership between Prada and LG has always been characterized by an innovative approach and uncompromised quality of style, design and breakthrough technology. These values are common to both our brands, which have always anticipated, and often set, the trends in many fields. We were therefore delighted to cooperate again with LG in the development of the latest creation of the mobile communication industry,” cited Patrizio Bertelli, CEO of Prada Group.

The first device, the Prada phone by LG 1.0, had reportedly sold more than a million units and was among the first touchscreen mobile phones at that point of time. The companies state that their phone brought together advanced technology and eclectic style in its compact designer form. The mobile device has made a place for itself in the permanent collection of New York City’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) in Shanghai.

The Prada phone by LG 2.0 is remembered for featuring watch with Link technology that provided easy access to functionalities like SMS text messages, caller ID, call history, call block and two-way alarm notification. Though speculations are rife that the Prada phone by LG 3.0 will be running on an Android OS, neither company has given an official confirmation regarding this, apart from the fact that their device is set to release in 2012.
