Blackberry Bold 9930 from Verizon Wireless to hit stores on August 25
Following its debut onto the online store, Verizon Wireless has disclosed launch details of the Blackberry Bold 9930 smartphone. Juiced up by the Blackberry OS 7 from RIM, the handset is slated to make its arrival on August 25, 2011 in stores.
With a width of only 10.5mm, the device is the thinnest amongst the long range of products offered from the company. Besides that, the Bold 9930 handset is the first in its series to come equipped with an integrated touch UI. Similar to the other smartphones in the Bold franchise, the new release will also feature the QWERTY keypad and the trackpad for easy navigation.
Accompanying the Blackberry OS 7 is the 1.2GHz processor for better multitasking and higher performance in games and applications along with the 2.8-inch touchscreen display portraying a resolution of 640 x 480 pixels and the Liquid Graphics technology for an advanced visual experience. Supporting the latest HTML protocols, the handset sports a full HTML5 based web browser for smooth navigation and viewing of content available in that format.
Additional changes featured in the new OS include the updated Social Feed app that comprises all media and podcasts into one comprehensive view, a new Blackberry Messenger (BBM) app with gaming and social networking incorporated into the system and the universal search capability for support to voice-activated capabilities to conveniently find information over the web. For better compatibility to business functions like viewing and editing documents and PDFs, the device comes bundled with the Documents To Go premium application at no extra cost.
Furthermore, the smartphone packs in the Push To Talk capability, microSD slot with support of up to 32GB, Wi-Fi g/b/n, 5MP camera with video capabilities in 720p HD, GPS and Bluetooth 2.1. Also featuring in the handset is the integrated BlackBerry Balance app that protects business information from unauthorized access.
The Blackberry Bold 9930 smartphone is currently available on the Verizon Wireless online store and is slated to hit Verizon Wireless Communications Stores on August 25. With the choice of a camera and non-camera model, the Blackberry Bold 9930 handset is priced at $249.99 (approx. Rs.11,343).
