BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380 unveiled
RIM today disclosed their latest BlackBerry smartphones namely, the BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380. Both the slim handsets are powered by the latest BlackBerry 7 operating system, however what makes the latter stand apart from the rest is that it is the first BlackBerry smartphone to feature a touchscreen instead of the trademark QWERTY keypad.
The Bold 9790 offers users an option of typing via its QWERTY keyboard or its responsive touch display. Equipped with a precise optical trackpad, it runs on a 1GHz processor and claims to deliver a smooth, speedy web browsing experience. This smartphone comes integrated with 8GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 32GB through the microSD card slot.
Carlo Chiarello, Senior Vice President, Handheld Product Management at RIM stated, “We are very excited to expand the BlackBerry 7 portfolio with the new BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380. BlackBerry smartphones offer a uniquely refined mobile communications experience that people love and we think many customers will be thrilled by the faster performance, beautiful touch displays and compact designs available with these new BlackBerry 7 based models.”
Featuring a 3.2-inch HD touchscreen display, the Curve 9380 comes preloaded with social networking apps such as BBM, Facebook, Twitter and Social Feeds applications. It sports a 5MP camera with flash and video recording. These newly declared devices operate on the recently released BlackBerry 7 operating system that apparently offers enhanced browsing and voice-activated searches, besides lending support to Augmented Reality and NFC.
The BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380 smartphones are expected to be available in the forthcoming weeks. Details regarding their price and availability have not yet been revealed.
