PS certified Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G smartphone announced via AT&T

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G Geared up for its debut on AT&T this month, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G smartphone is touted to be the first handset certified by PlayStation. The Gingerbread powered smartphone is embedded with gaming controls like joystick, PlayStation symbol keys, shoulder buttons and more.

The stealth blue colored smartphone is a blend of handheld gaming device and a smartphone. Running on the Google Android Gingerbread platform, the smartphone is powered by 1GHz processor and the Snapdragon chipset in addition to the Adreno 205 GPU. Fitted with a 4-inch screen of resolution 480 x 854, it projects graphics at the rate of up to 60 frames per second.

In addition to a constantly growing list of games exclusive to and optimized for Xperia Play, we know AT&T customers are really going to enjoy the uniquely Sony Ericsson social experience, including Timescape and Facebook Inside,” stated Peter Farmer, Head of Marketing for North America, Sony Ericsson.

Additionally, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G smartphone is integrated with stereo speakers to deliver high-quality audio. The device boasts of a 5MP rear facing shooter along with a front facing VGA camera to facilitate video recording as well as conferencing. Also, Facebook Inside Xperia tags along various features of the SNS such as a ‘like’ button in the music player and a photo tagging option in the media gallery.

The Wi-Fi enabled device is pre-loaded with seven exclusive games by publishers like Gameloft and EA. These games are inclusive of Asphalt 6 Adrenaline, Dungeon Defenders Second Wave, Madden NFL 11, Tower Bloxx: My City and more. Moreover, it can be utilized to download games optimized for the device through the Android Market. The smartphone is packaged along with the Sony Ericsson Multimedia Dock DK300 and MC100 music cable.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 4G smartphone carries a price tag of $49.99 (approx. Rs. 2,352) and requires a two-year contract along with a data plan. The device is slated to be available at AT&T stores and online starting September 18.
