RIM brings BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone to Indian shores

Those across India who have waiting to lay their hands on the BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone will be delighted to hear this bit of news. RIM has brought the phone to India at last. It will be available at Redington India outlets and stores as also through operators like Aircel, Airtel, BSNL, Idea Cellular, Loop Mobile, MTNL, Reliance, Tata and Vodafone.
The 4.29″ x 2.36″ x 0.56″ phone has a 2.4” 480 x 360p light-sensing display and 3.2MP AF camera that also allows video recording. The 624MHz processor-powered device features a tactile QWERTY keyboard and touch-sensitive trackpad for intuitive navigation of its various applications. It comes with in-built Wi-Fi and accommodates Wi-Fi calling via UMA. The gizmo runs with the BlackBerry OS 5.0 and is touted to offer speedy JavaScript and CSS processing.

The smartphone offers 256MB flash memory and houses a microSD/SDHC memory card slot for support for up to 16GB cards. Its chassis hosts a 3.5 mm stereo headset jack, dedicated volume controls as also Lock and Mute keys. The 1500mAh battery powered handset offers access to BlackBerry App World, a media player, BlackBerry Media Sync, BlackBerry Desktop Manager, Bluetooth 2.1 and 3G network support among other features.
The BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone will be released today across India at the aforementioned outlets and providers.
