Windows Phone 7 handsets surpass 1.5 million sales mark

Windows Phone 7 The conceptualization, development and materialization of the Windows Phone 7 platform has now come a long way. Microsoft has recently announced that the sales of handsets featuring this exclusive operating system have hit the 1.5 million mark.

Boasting of the introduction in the global smartphone market, these mobile devices sport the apparels of multiple manufacturers and network operators. In the first six weeks of the launch, the manufacturers reported sales of over 1.5 million handsets. Facing tough competition from Android and iOS platforms, these numbers are sure to alert other platform developers as well.

Achim Berg, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of Mobile Communications Business and Marketing Group, revealed that currently 18,000 developers are working on creating their marketplace. The expectations of the company about the Windows Phone 7 sales have reportedly been met with. Berg has also stated that these figures are just the beginning and more are yet to follow.

The fate of the Windows Phone 7 OS would be decided on the basis of the acceptance of these handsets. Let’s hope that it really does live up to the tech realm’s expectations as well.
