Sony Ericsson announces Vivaz handset

Sony may have already managed to wow most mobile phone buffs with their Xperia X10 handset that was introduced back in November 2009. The company has now proclaimed the imminent launch of their Sony Ericsson Vivaz handset as part of their communication entertainment phone portfolio.

The 3.2” 16:9 touchscreen displays 16,777,216 colors and offers resolutions of 640 x 360p nHD. It is capable of accommodating up to 75MB of content and features around 16GB SanDisk microSD support. The connectivity options comprise of a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB support, VGA TV out, PictBridge printing, a microUSB connector and so on. This DLNA-ratified device integrates a 720MHz processor, runs on Symbian S60 5th edition, measures 107mm x 521.7mm x 12.5mm and tips the scale at 97g.

The phone’s network capabilities span over UMTS HSPA 900/2100, GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS HSPA 850/1900/2100 and GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900. Its 8.1MP AF camera with 4 x digital zoom is endowed with various properties like geo tagging, image stabilizer, Touch capture, Smile detection, face detection and more. Videos may be recorded in 720p HD resolutions with continuous auto focus. Its capture, view and share/upload via YouTube or Picassa functions are the highlighted features.

Users can avail of applications like Google Search, web feeds, bookmarks, WebKit browser and those courtesy of Symbian Developer Community as well as PlayNow with this phone. Apart from standard functions like alarm clock, calendar, document readers and others, the gadget allows for a number of entertainment and messaging applications. Its location based services encompass A-GPS, Wisepilot and Google Maps. Its multimedia applications consist of Album art, TrackID, MP3/AAC tones, PlayNow and Bluetooth stereo A2DP connectivity.

Sony Ericsson’s Vivaz will be out within the first quarter of the current year in shades of moon silver, galaxy blue, cosmic black and Venus ruby. The pricing details are foggy for now.
