Sony Ericsson Symbian smartphones welcome Skype

Ericsson Vivaz Skype

Mobile phone buffs who are socially addicted to their Facebook and Twitter accounts or who just love talking to their loved ones may now sound as pleased as a punch. Sony Ericsson and Skype have recently joined hands to offer users Skype on three Sony Ericsson smartphones based on the Symbian platform, Satio, Vivaz and Vivaz pro.

Skype can be accessed on these phones via Wi-Fi or mobile data connection (3G, GPRS, EDGE) by users. Skype will offer users many benefits like free Skype-to-Skype calls, sharing pictures and videos and other files, and import contacts from the phone’s address book.

“Applications for communication and social networking are incredibly popular with mobile users. The opportunity to use a world-class app like Skype, in combination with the excellent applications and capabilities we have already integrated into our Satio, Vivaz and Vivaz pro devices, will make up a compelling package to our customers,” shared Kristian Tear, Executive Vice President and Head of Sales and Marketing at Sony Ericsson.

The Satio, Vivaz and Vivaz pro handsets will have Skype already installed in them. Users will be able to receive calls on their number in addition to Skype calls. Social butterflies will be able to view when Skype contacts are online and available to call or IM and send or receive messages from individuals or groups.

The companies joined hands together to provide users with more options to socialize. If these features weren’t enough, Skype is capable to be installed on any Sony Ericsson smartphone using Symbian.

Sony Ericsson will make Skype available to its Symbian smartphone users on Play Now arena by the end June. Users can download Skype on their compatible Sony Ericsson handsets through Skype official website.
