Nokia introduces Design by Community for smartphones

Design By Community

Nokia is certainly coming up with innovative and fun ways to keep their users engaged. Well, Nokia Conversations has initiated a new program called as ‘Design by Community’.

In this exclusive program, from March to May 2010, people can vote on smartphone attributes by means of a chain of sliders, albeit in a subjective point allotment system. This may help Nokia to create a unique concept for an upcoming smartphone. In this way, even users are participating in coming up with a new design for the next-gen smartphone.

To ensure a smooth running, they have charted out a six-step procedure where users get to vote for the attributes and functions they think are most vital. Each week, Nokia would tally up the votes and exhibit the distinct specs in the data sheet provided.

Moreover, every week interviews with Nokia designers, opinions from key bloggers and certainly a few insights into what goes into developing a device from start would be offered. Once users have zeroed in on their desired specs, the Nokia’ design team will develop them into a chain of concept sketches which would be presented for a public vote.

The winner would be turned into a design concept render and disclosed exclusively on Conversations in May.
