Game Boy comes to Palm Pre handset with VisualBoy Advance

VBA 1.1.1

It may be difficult to find more than a handful of ardent gamers unfamiliar with the Game Boy titles, if at all. VisualBoy Advance has finally hit webOS in Preware and is available to Palm Pre owners, according to Precentral.

VBA is an open source Gameboy, Gameboy Colour and Gameboy Advance emulator that is now out in Preware. The titles are fully functional though troubled a little by speed issues. The credits for this release have been rolled out to DitzWill and others from webOS-Internals.

Turning off the sound is cited to enhance frame rate and opting for auto save is also advised in case VBA is closed or crashes. The latter will allow users to get back to where they left off. Though current keybinds are already provided, they may be customized in-program.

This version 1.1.1 comes with full skinning support. It presently offers four skins with the VisualBoy Advance bundles. It’s been a little over two weeks since the VBA project for webOS commenced so more updates may be expected from these quarters.
