After the successful launch of the Samsung B3310 slider phone, Samsung is all set to enter the Indian CDMA market. The company has teamed up with Qualcomm to launch the Mpower 699 handset with OMH technology in India. Initially all CDMA operators will provide OMH SIM cards with this handset.
The OMH technology is compatible only with the CDMA platform. Since the network settings for the CDMA handsets have shifted from the phone to the OMH SIM card. This shift has created a demand for phones that support OMH technology.
Announcing the launch of Samsung Mpower 699 in the Indian market, Jung Soo Shin, President and CEO, Samsung South West Asia HQ stated, “This OMH launch represents a paradigm shift in the dynamics of the CDMA ecosystem with consumers now having the flexibility to choose an operator at their will at any point in time. The process to switch from the old R-UIM/SIM connections to the new OMH SIM cards is quite simple. This has further increased the popularity of the OMH technology. Moreover, the new OMH technology phones also support the older existing R-UIM/SIM for voice and SMS as well as data services. Apart from this, the OMH SIM also features backward compatibility. It supports all previously launched CDMA handsets that support R-UIM/SIM.
Incorporating various multimedia features like audio player, video player and stereo FM radio, this device comes embedded with an advanced mobile tracker. The Samsung Mpower 699 handset is now available for purchase and is priced at Rs. 7,100.
