Samsung adds CorbyTxt and CorbyPro phones to Corby line

Mobile phone companies seem to be intent on buttering up their youth market. Now Samsung has come out with two new members of the Corby family namely the CorbyTxt and CorbyPro. The S3650 model serves as the prototype for these youth-centered phones.

The B3210 aka CorbyTxt, is crafted for those who use the texting feature to a heavy extent. IM, quick launch buttons, and a QWERTY keyboard are the standard features on this phone. The device sports a 2.2” QCIF 262k TFT-LCD display screen, interesting fashion-jackets and two battery covers.

Weighing just 94mg, and 110.96 x 59.55 x 12.9mm in size, this phone comes with an 800mAh battery, 2megapixel CMOS camera and USB 2.0 plus Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR connectivity. With a memory capacity of 40MB and up to 8GB microSD, this model operates within the EGDE, GPRS networks and Quad Band frequencies of 850/900/1800/1900MHz. The video function supports H.263, WMV and MPEG files.

The B5310 aka CorbyPro boasts of a 2.8” TFT 320 x 240 resolution touch screen display, 3megapixel FF CMOS enabled camera, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, push e-mail and conversational SMS services. This 135g device has a 960mAh battery and dimensions of 105 x 56.8 x 15.68mm accessorized with fashion-jackets and two battery covers. It has a memory capacity of 100MB plus 16GB of microSD as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, USB 2.0 and microUSB connectivity. The device operates within HDSPA 7.2 Mbps, 900/2100 EDGE/GPRS and Quad Band frequencies of 850/900/1800 and 1900MHz. H.263, WMV, WAV, DivX and MPEG4 files are supported by this model.

The audio system of both phones has FM with RDS and accommodates Poly 64, MP3, AAC and many such types of music files. Cartoon UI, Smart Unlock, one finger zoom, and a 3.5mm earjack are part of the design of the Corby series. The phones’ chassis too are smoothly curved and youthful.

Though November, 2009 has been announced as the launch-month of this series, the price of these two models is not yet out.
