T-Mobile introduces Sidekick LX mobile phone

T-Mobile offers customers its latest Sidekick mobile phone known as the Sidekick LX. This handset caters to users looking for faster data speeds and instant mobile access to social networking sites.

This new phone sports a thin profile with a sharp screen and is available in two vibrant colors namely orchid and carbon. The mobile has a 3.2 inch F-WVGA screen and high definition LCD technology with 854 x 480 resolution. The handset is 5.1 x 2.4 x 0.6 inches in size and weighs 5.7 ounces.

The Sidekick LX mobile brings users closer than ever to social networking sites by providing one-click access to them. There are customized applications which constantly update and display notifications directly on the home screen of the mobile. Some social networks that can be accessed through the Sidekick LX are Facebook, Twitter and MySpace.

This handset has an integrated GPS-enabled Live Search which allows users to map their current location and find locations like the nearest coffee shop. Via Sidekick’s messaging abilities, customers can also share their favorite spots with friends anywhere. Consumers can easily check traffic updates, gas prices or movie showtimes through the added search tabs.

The T-Mobile Sidekick LX is equipped with a built-in 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash. It also includes superior video capabilities which enable users to easily record videos and capture crystal clear pictures. These can then be shared with friends and family anywhere by uploading them directly onto social networking sites or through e-mail. The handset supports audio and video streaming which enables customers to watch videos on YouTube.

The Sidekick LX has an intuitive user interface with a self-help application, full QWERTY keypad and iconic swivel screen. Customers are alerted when they receive a new message with the energetic mood lights located horizontally across the top of the display screen. Consumers can now even record their own ringtone or receive them through their e-mail.

Other multimedia features include music player with streaming audio and RTSP video. The Sidekick LX supports personal e-mail, SMS, MMS and instant messaging. This can be done through various clients such as AOL Instant Messenger, Windows Live and Yahoo! Messenger.

Customers can search for different applications with the help of the Quick Find option from the user interface. To store pictures and files, a 1 GB microSD memory card is included in the Sidekick LX phone. Also integrated with this mobile is Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP also supporting stereo Bluetooth.

The Sidekick LX from T-Mobile supports Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) and Dual-band UMTS/HSDPA. The handset is powered by a 1250 mAh lithium ion battery. The battery offers 3 hours talk time and 6 days standby over 3G and 5.5 hours talk time and 8 days standby over 2G.

T-Mobile customers can acquire the Sidekick LX through pre-sale at sidekick.com for a price of $199 (approx Rs.9,892) with a 2-year contract. It is expected to launch in select T-Mobile retail stores around May 13, 2009.
