Verizon Wireless launches 5.1 MP Casio Exilim phone

Casio has announced the availability of the Casio Exilim. This phone will be made available via Verizon Wireless. The 180-degree rotating display, 5.1 megapixel camera and a host of Verizon’s entertainment features give this phone an edge over the others. The company claims that the camera is equivalent to a digital camera.

The Exilim complies with the military specifications 810F standards and is capable of delivering its best performance in various weather conditions including salt-fog, low and high temperatures, humidity, rain, dust and altitude. It is also capable of resisting shock, vibration, solar radiation and water immersion.

The 5.1MP camera comes equipped with dedicated camera key, single and 9 point auto focus and optical 3x zoom. The auto focus feature can be turned off when not needed. The camera supports various resolution sizes including 2560 x 1920, 2048 x 1536, 1600 x 1200, 1280 x 960, 640 x 480, 320 x 240 and 160 x 120.

The camera also features various video capture modes such as off, person, scenery, night view, person and scenery, twilight, food, character, sports, party, monotone, sepia, reverse, high sharpness, high contrast and vivid for outstanding performance. The image stabilizer and the perspective adjustment feature further enhance the quality of the videos captured.

The white balance can be set to various modes like auto, sunny, shade, tungsten and fluorescent. The self-timer offers three, five or ten seconds preset timers. The memory of the Rival can be expanded up to 8GB. The other features of the phone include Bluetooth, VZ Navigator, Visual Voice Mail and V CAST Music with Rhapsody.

The Casio Exilim is now available via Verizon Wireless for a price of $279.99 (approx. Rs. 13,2900) after a $50 mail-in rebate and a two year customer agreement. Verizon will charge a negligible monthly access fee for the various multimedia features.
