Samsung India has unveiled the country’s first 8-megapixel touch screen camera phone, dubbed the Samsung Pixon.

Also known as the M8800, the phone possesses high-end camera functionalities for users to access their handset as a camera tool as well. In addition to a whopping 8 megapixel resolution, it highlights Advanced Shake Reduction, Blink detection, Smile detection, Face detection, Panoramic shot and many more. Users have the freedom to edit the captured picture on the phone and also create a photo memo by scribbling on the photos. It even supports video recording capability and TB output for users to connect the device to both PAL and NTSC systems.

The Pixon ensures easy mobile blogging, enabling users to view and show their most memorable pictures to their loved ones. All they need to do is just tilt the phone, and pictures will scroll through for a great viewing experience.

Apart from the camera capabilities, the Samsung Pixon also incorporates a media player that supports a host of video player formats such as DivX, Xvid and mp4 files. With the included automatic screen orientation, the phone displays more realistic video clips and movies. Other than that, the handset also bundles an advanced Music Player with SRS 3D surround sound.

Besides, the Pixon sports the 8.1cm WQVGA large full touch screen with Samsung TouchWiz user interface. Users will experience intuitive tap, sweep, drag and drop operations. It also packs in an onscreen QWERTY keyboard and on screen handwriting recognition for emailing, messaging and other inputs. Other features of the 3G phone include live Home Screen Widgets like weather info, Google search etc and support for both HSDPA high speed Internet with up to 7.2 download speed and UMTS capability.

That’s not it; the Samsung Pixon also has more into its kitty. It comes loaded with various games that include Brain Challenge, Diamond Twister and Millionaire-3. If these game titles don’t interest you, then it also comes embedded with the motion-sensor based game called the Tumbling Dice game.

The phone also includes accelerometer for auto-rotate, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP, microUSB 2.0 and a high-capacity 1000 mAh Li-Ion battery to deliver up to 290h standby time and up to 3h and 40m talk time.

The Samsung Pixon mobile phone is available in India for Rs. 28,750.
