Elektrobit satellite-cellular hybrid phone unveiled

Elektrobit Satellite-Cellular Hybrid Phone At CTIA 2009, Elektrobit announced that it is working on a satellite-cellular hybrid phone also called Satellite-Terrestrial Device. This device claims to be the first ever satellite-cellular hybrid phone and is all set to launch by the end of 2009.

Well, unlike the usual bulky satellite phones, the new Satellite-Terrestrial Device easily slips into your pocket. Keeping up to the modern trends, it’s almost the size of a smartphone and comes without any external antenna.

This satellite-cellular hybrid phone is based on Windows Mobile 6.5 Professional and is touchscreen-enabled. Some of its features include GPS, WiFi, Terrestar 2.2 GHz, Bluetooth, 3.0 MP Camera with autofocus and flash and 100 MB Internal memory with support for MicroSD.

It also supports Quadband GSM/EDGE and Dual-band North American 3G. There is no word on the pricing and availability.
