Samsung Haptic 8M Mobile Phone

A new handset, which is more like a digital camera than a mobile phone, gets added to Samsung’s kitty. The company has announced the plan to roll out the latest touchscreen phone, known as SCH-W740, in the South Korean market. Also called the Samsung Haptic 8M, the mobile phone seems to be named after the haptic (vibration) feedback function.

Moving away from the interesting name, we come to the technical aspect of the handset. Supporting the company’s TouchWiz user interface, it sports a 3.3-inch full-touch display with a high-resolution of 480×800 pixels.

Boasting feature-rich camera capabilities, the handset employs a whopping 8 megapixel snapper, auto focus, face tagging, smile shot and xenon flash. A host of scenery modes is also embedded onto the device. Users can capture videos with this digital phone shooter. With the face tagging, they can easily send a SMS or make call to a tagged person directly from the stored image.

The camera comes with a unique feature that has the ability to automatically translate documents after users capture the snap of them. If you are wondering what’s the feature called, its termed as an English recognition function. So that means, users will just have to click a picture of the particulr document and the mobile phone will intelligently translate it as per the user’s requirement.

Besides, the Haptic 8M also shows off T-DMB (Digital TV), HSUPA (5.6Mbps), Bluetooth, an e-dictionary, business card scanner and a memory card slot to store all the multimedia files.

The Samsung Haptic 8M mobile phone will reach the stores in South Korea for 900,000 KRW (approx. Rs. 34,175).
