Samsung releases Corby full touch phone

The latest launch that we witnessed was the Samsung Mpower 699 with OMH technology. And now the company launches a full touchscreen phone called the Samsung Corby. This new touchscreen handset has been designed to capture the hearts of the youngsters.
The handset features a 2.8-inch QVGA TFT LCD touchscreen with 262K of color. The 2 megapixel camera with a CMOS sensor claims to capture all those special moments. The device supports various video file formats like H.263, MPEG4 and WMV along with audio file formats like Poly 64, SP-Midi, i-melody, MP3, AAC, AAC+ and WMA. The phone also throws in a FM radio with RDS.

The Corby is consistent with Samsung’s legacy of developing new products and technologies designed for specific audiences and bringing new devices quickly to market,” explained JK Shin, Executive Vice President and Head of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile Communications Division.
Measuring 103mm x 56.5mm x 12.0mm, this handset weighs only 93 grams. Along with the 960mAh battery, the Corby also incorporates various value added features like Pop-Up SNS, fashion jacket, Cartoon UI, One Finger zoom, dictionary and Smart Unlock. The handset supports EDGE/GPRS and Quad Band networks.
“Globally, we are number one for full-screen touch phones and recognize the importance of social networks in the modern mobile industry. Samsung’s target audiences are at the heart of its business strategy and the design and functionality of Samsung Corby meets the needs of a highly digitally connected and style conscious youth audience – as does the affordable price point,” continued JK Shin.
The Samsung Corby claims to support a wide range of social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. Targeted towards the youth, this handset features an eye-catching profile with two-tone diagonal contours. The phone will be made available in various colors like Jamaican Yellow, Cupid Pink, Minimal White, and Festival Orange.
This handset is said to offer the best social networking services along with enhanced multimedia features. The Samsung Corby full-touch handset will be made available in Europe starting from mid-September. The handset is speculated to be price tagged at around €150 (approx. Rs. 10,497). It will be made available outside Europe later this month.
