DivX Certified Samsung Omnia Phone Released in US

Samsung Omnia Phone The Samsung Omnia, which was recently rolled out in the US via carrier Verizon, is now DivX certified.

Users can now enjoy seamless playback of high-quality DivX video on the handset’s 3.2-inch screen through the DivX compression technology. The Omnia can play DivX videos that promise to be less in size and at the same time maintain high quality.

These videos can be either stored on the phone’s 8GB internal memory or on an expandable microSD flash card.

“By including DivX video decoding in the Samsung Omnia, we’re giving our users the high-quality technology they would expect from a mobile phone with an advanced feature set,” mentioned Younghee Lee, Vice President of Marketing in Samsung’s Telecommunication Business.

Besides, the touchscreen phone is based on Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and comes bundled with Samsung’s TouchWiz user interface, full HTML browser, optical mouse, and a 5.0 megapixel camera.

The Samsung Omnia is priced at $249.99 (approx. Rs. 12,325).
