Iridium 9555 Satellite Phone Iridium unveils its small and powerful satellite phone called as the Iridium 9555 at its annual Partner Conference in Miami, Fla. The innovative 9555 comes with a notable reduced size, convenient hand-friendly form factor and an intuitive user interface.

Some features of the compact and simple Iridium 9555 are a brighter screen, speaker phone, improved Short Messaging Service (SMS) and email capabilities, upgraded mini-USB data port, menu-driven interface, soft keys, internally retractable antenna and illuminated and weather-resistant keypad.

This rugged phone is water and shock resistant and works well in remote and industrial environment. Featuring the only communications network that provides truly global coverage, it offers reliable, secure, real-time and mission-critical communications service. Iridium is the only provider that offers complete coverage of the earth along with truly global satellite voice and data communications solutions.

The phone is 27 percent lighter and 30 percent smaller than the 9505A handset. It offers standby time up to 30 hours and talk time up to 4 hours.

The Iridium 9555 handset will be available through Iridium service partners starting in November 2008.
