PDA-style Satellite Phone Reportedly, Elektrobit is planning to bring out its concept phone based on Satellite/Terrestrial Reference PDA phones. The sleek PDA-styled satellite phone comes with a QWERTY-keyboard and eliminates antenna.

It would run on Windows Mobile 6.1 professional and sports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, VoIP, a 2.6-inch touch screen with 320×240 pixels of resolution, internal memory of 10 MBand and a 3 megapixel camera. It supports HSDPA, quad-band GSM/EGPRS and satellite connectivity, up to 2GB microSD card and voice control function.

The new satellite phone is expected to be capable of delivering talktime of 1.3 hours on satellite, 3 hours on WCDMA and between 3.5 to 5 hours on GSM, by using 1400 mAh battery. It is a slim and light (4.7 x 2.5 x .8 inches) phone. It is compatible with BMP, JPEG, GIF and TIFF image files; H.264,H.263 and WMV video file formats; AAC(+), WAV, WMA, AMR-NB, AMR-WB, MIDI and MP3 audio files; and AMR-NB, AMR-WB and PCM digital voice recording.

The phone would allow users to view 30fps video playback with QVGA resolution and captures videos at 15fps with QVGA resolution. The phone should roll out in 2009 once the Terrestar satellite network is launched and do well with this one.
