iPhone Doubles as Radio, thanks to AOL
Apple iPhone has stretched out to offer all possible entertainment functions. Firstly, the touchscreen feature was quite notable, and then the camera capabilities with image and video viewing functionality as well as audio feature are impressive. The company is working hard in making the revolutionary phone one of the biggest inspirations to other brands.
In this journey, Apple has added a new feature into the phone. For this, the company has collaborated with AOL and offered the new AOL Radio application that supports the iPhone. Now, users can easily access the radio service via EDGE or Wi-Fi connection.
An ad-supported application will also be available for iPhone 3G owners at no additional cost. This tool boasts to deliver a sound quality that is as good as that of CD music. Owners will be able to enjoy approximately 200 AOL stations and around 150 CBS stations. All these stations are divided into 25 genres.
It is believed that with this announcement, the doors are open for other audio and video streaming that will allow customized radio functionality offered by Pandora and Last.FM.
The AOL developed application was demonstrated at the “iPhone Developer Showcase” and it was developed with the help of the iPhone SDK. The application won an Apple design award for “Best Entertainment Application” during WWDC 2008.
